Down pillows

Down and feather pillows, natural, breathable and available with different levels of support

Guide to choosing a down pillow

DaunenStep down pillows are available with different combinations of down and feathers, designed to provide different levels of softness and support. Understanding the filling and construction of the pillow helps you choose the model that best suits your sleeping preferences.

Quick answer

How do you choose a down pillow?

The choice mainly depends on the ratio of down to feathers and the desired level of support. A higher feather content generally makes the pillow more compact and supportive, while a higher percentage of down provides a softer and more enveloping feel. Chamber pillows combine different materials and constructions to provide more balanced comfort.

Down and feathers: what is the difference?

Down and feathers are both natural materials, but they have different characteristics. Down is particularly lightweight, soft and voluminous, while feathers, thanks to their structure, provide greater firmness and support to the pillow.

For this reason, the proportion of the two materials directly affects the feel of the pillow: models with more feathers tend to be more compact, while those with a high percentage of down feel softer and more enveloping.

Material Characteristics Feel
Down Lightweight, voluminous and very soft Soft and enveloping
Feathers More structured and substantial More compact and supportive

Quick comparison

Which DaunenStep down pillow should you choose?

The DaunenStep range offers different fillings and constructions: from more compact and supportive models to pillows with a higher down content, characterised by an increasingly softer feel.

Model Filling Feel
Silver 100% feathers More compact and supportive
Gold 20% down and 80% feathers Support with greater softness
President Outer chamber 100% down and core 100% feathers Soft on the outside, more structured on the inside
Platinum 90% down and 10% feathers Very soft with moderate support
Diamant 100% down The softest in the range
Duetto Outer chamber 100% down and core 100% PrimaLoft® Bio™ External softness with internal support

Softness or support: which should you choose?

Those who prefer a more compact pillow can choose a higher feather content, as in the Silver and Gold models. As the percentage of down increases, the feel becomes progressively softer: Platinum contains 90% down, while Diamant is filled with 100% down.

President uses a chamber construction: the feather core provides greater firmness, while the outer chamber in pure down adds softness at the surface. Duetto follows a similar principle, but combines an outer down chamber with a PrimaLoft® Bio™ core.

Down pillows and sleeping position

Your usual sleeping position also affects the choice. Those looking for greater support may prefer a more structured model, while those who want a softer feel may choose fillings with a higher percentage of down.

How do you wash a down pillow?

The pillows in the range can be washed in water at up to 40°C. To preserve the filling over time, always follow the instructions on the individual product label and make sure the pillow is completely dry after washing.

Thorough drying helps the down and feathers regain their volume and softness and prevents moisture from remaining inside the filling.

Frequently asked questions

Down pillow FAQ

What is the difference between down and feathers in a pillow?

Down is particularly lightweight, voluminous and soft. Feathers have a firmer structure and help give the pillow greater compactness and support. Combining the two materials therefore makes it possible to create different comfort sensations.

Which DaunenStep down pillow is the softest?

Diamant is the softest model in the DaunenStep range and is filled with 100% down.

Which pillow should I choose if I prefer more support?

Models with a higher feather content generally provide a more compact and supportive feel. Silver is filled with 100% feathers, while Gold combines 80% feathers and 20% down. President also uses an inner core of pure feathers, combined with an outer chamber of pure down.

How is the President pillow made?

President has a chamber construction: the outer chamber is filled with 100% down, while the inner core contains 100% feathers. This combines a soft surface with a more supportive internal structure.

What is the difference between President and Duetto?

Both use a construction that combines a soft outer chamber with a more structured core. President has an outer chamber of 100% down and a core of 100% feathers; Duetto instead combines an outer chamber of 100% down with a PrimaLoft® Bio™ core.

Are DaunenStep down pillows washable?

Yes. The models in the range can be washed in water at up to 40°C. Always follow the instructions on the product label and dry the pillow thoroughly after washing.
