Quick answer
When should you choose a microfibre topper?
A microfibre topper is suitable for those who want to make the mattress softer while choosing a practical and washable synthetic filling. NeoStep Ultrasoft uses soft flakes made from 100% polyester PrimaLoft® Bio™ with a down-like feel and can be washed at up to 40°C.
Two solutions
NeoStep Ultrasoft and NeoStep Ultrasoft Ignifugo: what are the differences?
Both toppers belong to the synthetic fibre family, but they use different fillings and meet different needs.
NeoStep Ultrasoft
NeoStep Ultrasoft: microfibre topper with a down-like feel
NeoStep Ultrasoft uses a filling made from 100% polyester PrimaLoft® Bio™, consisting of soft synthetic flakes designed to create a soft and comfortable sleeping surface.
The cover is made from 100% soft cotton. The topper can be washed at up to 40°C and is described by DaunenStep as allergy-friendly.

What does “microfibre with a down-like feel” mean?
The expression “down-like feel” describes the softness and loft of the filling. NeoStep Ultrasoft uses soft synthetic PrimaLoft® Bio™ flakes that create a comfortable sleeping surface even though the filling is made from polyester.
Does NeoStep Ultrasoft contain down?
No. NeoStep Ultrasoft is a synthetic topper: the filling is made from 100% polyester PrimaLoft® Bio™. “Down-like feel” therefore refers to the feel of the material, not to the presence of down or feathers.

NeoStep Ultrasoft Ignifugo: Class 1 IM topper
NeoStep Ultrasoft Ignifugo is a specific version made with 100% fire-retardant polyester flakes and classified as Class 1 IM.

Comfort
What is a microfibre topper used for?
A microfibre topper is placed on top of the mattress to add a layer of softness and change the comfort of the sleeping surface.
It also creates an additional layer between the sleeper and the mattress, helping to reduce direct exposure to normal everyday use. However, it does not replace a worn mattress and cannot correct structural problems.
Can a microfibre topper make a firm mattress softer?
Yes. NeoStep Ultrasoft adds a soft layer above the mattress and can therefore make the surface feel of a firm mattress more comfortable.
The effect still depends on the characteristics of the mattress underneath. A topper changes surface comfort but cannot correct sagging, deformation or other structural problems.
Is a microfibre topper warm?
The thermal sensation of a topper depends on several factors, including the filling, mattress, room temperature, bed linen and individual sensitivity.
NeoStep Ultrasoft mainly focuses on softness and practicality, while NeoStep Ultrasoft Ignifugo is also described by DaunenStep as breathable. It is therefore not accurate to define a synthetic topper in absolute terms as either warm or cool.
Hygiene and care
How do you wash a microfibre topper?
Both NeoStep Ultrasoft and NeoStep Ultrasoft Ignifugo are washable at up to 40°C. To care for the product correctly, always follow the instructions on the care label.
DaunenStep recommends slow tumble drying at low temperatures. The toppers should also not be stored in plastic bags or vacuum-packed.
Sizes
Which size should you choose for a microfibre topper?
The topper should have the same width and length as the mattress. For example, for a 160x200 cm mattress, it is advisable to choose a topper of the same size.
The DaunenStep synthetic fibre topper range includes many sizes, from single beds to larger double-bed formats.
How does NeoStep Ultrasoft stay in place on the mattress?
NeoStep Ultrasoft features elasticated corners that help reduce movement during use and allow the topper to adapt to different mattress heights.
What is the purpose of the small-square quilting?
The small-square quilting helps keep the structure of NeoStep Ultrasoft even and distribute the filling correctly across the surface of the topper.
