The difference between the duvets in the D200, D400, D600, and D800 lines lies not only in the outer fabric but also in the filling power, not in warmth.

Filling power indicates the size of the down cluster and its ability to fill. A higher filling power corresponds to a lighter, softer, fluffier product. For example: a D400 Classic Winter will provide the same warmth as a D600 Classic Winter, but the D600 will be lighter and softer while offering the same warmth.

The fabric also changes. A super soft batiste cotton is much softer than regular batiste cotton. Hence, we have a progression in softness and lightness starting from the D200 up to the D800, which is the lightest and softest with the most premium fabric, offering the same warmth.

The Classic Winter variant is recommended for mild winters in heated apartments, the Mid-Season variant is suggested for transitional seasons or cool summers.

These two variants (two duvets) when combined in the Trio option offer coverage for the coldest winters, which would otherwise only be provided by the Cold Winter variant (harsh winter).

Naturally, these temperatures are indicative, and personal sensitivity plays an essential role, such as whether you are more or less prone to feeling cold. Other factors may also influence the warmth level, such as sleeping alone or as a couple, metabolism, age, etc.

A quilt is much larger, with more overhang on the sides and bottom of the bed. The duvet is always white and should be used with a duvet cover, whereas the quilt is placed on top of the sheets.

To choose the correct size of duvet, mattress cover, or topper based on the size of your mattress, you need to consider the length, width, and height of the mattress itself. Here is a general guide:

Duvet::

The duvet should be larger than the mattress surface to ensure proper coverage with some overhang on the sides. Usually, the standard duvet size for a mattress is:

  • Double bed (160x190/200 cm): Duvet 250x200 cm or 260x240 cm.
  • Queen bed (120x190/200 cm): Duvet 200x200 cm.
  • Single bed (80/90x190/200 cm): Duvet 155x200 cm.

Mattress cover:

It should match the mattress size for a perfect fit. Ensure that the chosen mattress cover fits the height, check out our Vivacolor line (internal link). Common sizes are:

  • Double bed (160x190/200 cm): Mattress cover 160x190/200 cm with elastic corners.

  • Queen bed (120x190/200 cm): Mattress cover 120x190/200 cm.

  • Single bed (80/90x190/200 cm): Mattress cover 80x190/200 cm or 90x190/200 cm.

Topper:

The topper should match the mattress size exactly to ensure it stays in place. So, if you have a 160x200 cm double mattress, you should choose a 160x200 cm topper.

When choosing a pillow, it is crucial to consider your sleeping position: back or side sleepers require a high pillow, while stomach sleepers should use a low pillow. The correct pillow height, depending on the position, will ensure proper support and a relaxed sleep.

Filling power is the ratio between the weight and volume of the filling. The higher the filling power, the more prestigious the filling: larger down clusters require fewer of them, making the item lighter.
